Janice's Inspiration
Ivy Emerald was established in 2008 by Janice Schmitzer, a grandmother of 3, after she recognised a gap in the Christening Gown market.
'We had great difficulty in sourcing an heirloom quality boy’s gown for my grandson's Baptism. My 4 daughters and 2 granddaughters had all worn the same gown but we wanted something special for a little boy.’
Coupled with her love of babies and beautiful babywear, the concept of developing a range of designer heirloom Christening gowns and accessories, turned into the reality of Ivy Emerald - Designer Christening Gowns & Heirloom Gifts.
Heirlooms are something to be really treasured. Heirlooms link generations in a deep and personal way. A grandmother’s Christening gown passed down through the generations can provide a richer understanding of a family’s history.
'I have developed a range of exquisite Christening gowns, dresses, rompers and accessories that I believe are very special. I hope that mothers (and grandmothers) of today will enjoy my collection of gowns, and baby accessories which are similar to those used for my own babies some 30 years ago, but still practical for mums of today.'
'Ivy Elfie Emerald' was my grandmother's name and I chose IVY EMERALD as the name of my business in memory of my kind and gentle grandmother.'
